August 2012 Cocktails and Chocolates

Well hello there! This month the 15th got here too fast for me! I'm a day late - sorry all! It's back to school for kids here, and it's FINALLY cooling down (at least temporarily) here in Texas. I hope everyone else is enjoying temperate weather wherever you may be.

Please join in the fun - pick your favorite, post it here and grab a bevvie and something sweet (or bitter if you like dark chocolate) and let's all see what the judges have in store for our August entries.

Helpful hints for attaching photos into Forum Threads:
1) Sign into BP completely (name + password.)
2) If you have NOT YET entered the Contest today, you can use the "Photo ID" to pull an existing image from your Member Center into your reply to this thread (avoiding a duplicate image upload.) Get the Photo ID# from your Member Center, come to back this thread, click Respond, enter the text of your reply, then choose "1" from the images-to-attach drop-down. Click Submit; at the next screen populate the "Photo ID" box at the right. Skip the other fields on that screen.
3) If you HAVE ALREADY entered the Contest today before replying to this thread, you can't use the Photo ID method today. You can either wait until tomorrow to reply here (before your new Contest entry!) or, upload a new copy of the particular image (from your PC) into this thread. This produces a duplicate image in your Member Center; however, you don't have to make that duplicate visible in your Gallery.
4) If you're uploading a duplicate, maybe title it "For Forum" so it stands out in your Member Center, for easier housecleaning later... This can help direct viewers to find the original image in your gallery, when they want to leave a comment. Likewise, if you want to add a comment to a photo seen here, try to tell if it is a duplicate upload. As a courtesy, try to find the original image in the member's gallery and leave your comment there instead of on the duplicate---that way, if the duplicate is deleted later, the comment history isn't lost.

Here's my favorite from August...I hadn't realized that the theme from the month was funny or I might have tried it there first. Either way - I just LOVE my little man and his expressions. I think my camera kind of loves him too.

Love that capture Michelle! The weather is sooo much nicer here in MD too. The humidity is gone. Now I'm looking forward to seeing how nice the fall foliage is this year.

Jeff, my favorites of yours are "Wings" and the image directly above it in your gallery that is untitled...looks like a hod ornament with some rust on the hood.

Really a hard choice for me this time; I had several old favorites I had reworked & entered in August, which of course I love. A few of my brand new August images have me pretty hopeful as well. But then in the middle of the month, I went to Iceland for my sister's wedding, spent 10 days there (missing 9 days of making BP entries), came home with a few thousand shots, and managed to get 2 of them entered at the end of August. (As a result, September is likely to be 100% Iceland entries, so part of me feels I shouldn't pick an Iceland image for this thread ;)
So a real dilemma...!

	Skógafoss The massive wall of water that is Skógafoss in southern Iceland. The water falls about 200 feet with a powerful roar, creating a huge bank of mist. Apparently during full flood, the wind created by the falls is strong enough to keep you from getting within 50 feet of the falls. Chris Budny

Can't help it... ;) Iceland blew me away, and this is my August favorite from the trip.
