Getting Started: Best Courses to Take?

I have always been interested in photography and just got a Canon Rebel XS for Christmas! I have signed up for Learning Your Canon Digital SLRR course because I feel lost when using my camera :(
What classes should I look into next?

  Hi Christina,
Thanks for your interest in BetterPhoto.com's online photography courses, and congratulations on getting an excellent new camera for Christmas! An online course is a great way to go. If, after that class, you would like to really jump more into exposure, then here's a great second class:
Better Exposure: How to Meter Light

Let me know if you'd like any further suggestions!
Kerry

Note to Everyone: We have classes for all skill levels and subjects. Here are some other really helpful ways to find the best course for you:

  Hello Christina,
Congratulations on getting a new camera. Kerry has given you some great advice.
When I found Better Photo and looked through their classes I knew I wanted to take better photos but also wanted to get up to speed with Photoshop techniques, so I would take an Exposure or Composition class and a Photoshop class at the same time. I had the time & $$ to do this and it made my learning curve fast & effecient. I have taken 8 classes at Better Photo and every one of them have been exceptional. I still refer back to some of the lessons for reference. Last summer I went on a Photo Tour to Europe with one of my BP instructors Jim Zuckerman and it was a wonderful experience to shoot side by side with Jim and 11 other talented photographers.
Take an exposure class and then read through the course outlines and see what fits with where you want to progress (landscapes, macro, photoshop, weddings, HDR, lighting) & a lot more to choose from. The feedback & critiques from the Instructors & classmates are invaluable and will greatly aid in your progress.
Have fun - Carlton
