Save Pictures to CD as Read Only How do you save your images to a CD in a format that will NOT allow the client to download or copy them? I'd like something like a Read-Only format where they can only view the photographs. Can anyone help? Thanks!

If you right click to open up the properties of the file that's on the CD, I think you'll see that the file is already read only. The box at the bottom of the properties window. This doesn't prevent copying of the file, only that your computer without the use of a cd burner will not save over the file. For what you want to do, I don't know of a way to do that. Maybe there's some kind of encryption code writing that can be done. Don't give clients full-sized, unmarked files.

If it is visible on someone's screen, it can either be saved to disk, or 'screen grabbed'. Same difference. So if you post images NOT exceeding 800x600 (at 72dpi), they will be useless for printing at true photo quality. This also makes defacing your own precious images with (copyright) graffiti unnecessary. Have fun!

One way is to gather all your pic files together, choose a low-ish resolution, then make a multi page PDF (using Adobe Acrobat Distiller)... and then in the PDF preferences you can DISALLOW printing and file extraction. In effect it will be a view file only, viewable via Acrobat Reader. To do this you must first have the full version of Acrobat (and Distiller). As W.S. says above, anything viewed on-screen can be copied, but only at screen resolution (which is only 72 dpi) which is crap for printing.

I've gone to Roy's method on the contact sheeet and its great. You can save as a PDF or JPEG....best way to show people their family portraits, kids photos or Holiday photos. They send the contact sheet around to family members and the relatives usually end up requesting 5x7 or 8x10s...perfect.

You can create a multi page PDF using Photoshop. Save all your Pics as PDF, then in Photoshop choose CREATE PDF, and it will ask if you want to add other pics/pages, choose the pics to add, then add some security (ie: password to open file, printing allowed YES NO, etc) and save with a new NAME.
