Photography Question

Greeting Cards: What Goes on Back?

For those of you who print and sell greeting cards, what do you put on the back? Your name? URL? Do you put a copyright on the photo itself? Or on the back? I'm making cards for my mother to send for Christmas. I want my name on them, but at the same time I don't want to be tacky about advertising on a Christmas card. Thanks!

Hi Pat, I have been selling Greeting Cards only for a short time, this past Summer but I designed a card layout which I print 50 or so at a time. On this layout or better yet, background, you could place at the bottom in perhaps 12-14 Font size, your name, the Holiday, and a way to contact. Then the rest of the page if blank. Then I cut to trim for the photo size, then double-stick tape the photo after folding half-over. This places the writing on the back side of the card & the photo on the face. I use Photoshop for this.

If you want to discuss this more, contact me at my blog, and we can talk in detail:

Good luck
Rich

  Pat,

I just put my URL in very small font in the right bottom corner. I use MPIX to print my cards.

Hi Pat. I've had success selling note cards. This is how it looks only centered on the back.

Title
Name
Address
Phone
Website
Email Address
Enlargements Available

On the bottom left corner I use the photo number so I can locate it on my computer if they want to order more or an enlargement.

I print ©Kathy Radford on the bottom of the photo itself. I print a color double border that surrounds the photo. Use a color that compliments the photo. Then I attach the photo with double sided tape. People love the border it really compliments the appearance of the photo. Hope this helps.

I don't put anything on the picture itself but on the back I put "design by", my logo and my URL.
