Photoshop: Elements Vs. CS Just wondering what's the difference between Photoshop full version and Photoshop Elements. I'm only working with photos, not video. Thanks.

Photoshop Elements 3 has many great features and should satisfy most beginner to intermediates. You can go to www.adobe.com and try their free trial. I sure don't think that the full version is worth 8 times as much as Elements!

If you do want CS, you might be able to find it on Ebay for a lot cheaper.

Another idea... http://www.gimp.org/ Don't know how it compares to any version of PS though. Just found out about it yesterday myself. This is freeware.

GIMP is what I use and it is a pretty good program. Plus you can download Photoshop filters and use them as well.

I too was wondering about this and through the info. I got on this site I went with Elements, it was great until I went back to school where they we're using CS. Elements is great especially for organizing your photos, but CS has a few things that I find very helpful in producing the kind of images I want...especially in B&W.In Cs you have color balance, curves, and better B&W conversion to name a few. I found CS online for 199.00 I doesn't have the complete warranty, but I now own both programs for a fraction of the origional CS price. I hope this helps!

I'd look into NYIP's accredidation before believing it'll get you any "discounts". It's NOT considered a degree program, unless something has drastically changed since I took it. It's just a correspondence course. If you sign up for a legit college course, you can order from Academic Superstore and enjoy nice savings. Elements is fine for most amateurs, anything you learn there can be applied to PSCS later. Trust me, the learning curve in Photoshop is STEEP! Consider one of the courses here, they look great, to me.
