How to Get the Copyright Logo This is perhaps really dumb but I make/sell photos/cards and haven't figured out how to get the little copyright logo (c inside circle) onto my cards/photos. I hand-write it, but wish to incorporate it into the other identifying info I place on the cards/prints. Thank you!

If you're already adding printed text, hold down your Alt key, and on the number pad (with number lock on) type in 0169 and you'll get © hth

You can also access other symbols and type by using the character map located in your accessories/system tools.

Actually, in the Mac OS, the © symbol has always been OPTION G (or alt G). No other key combinations are necessary.

I stand corrected. Thanks for the info. It is only alt(opt)/g with no other keys.

In Mac or Windows, you can also put (c) - you must put these 3 symbols side by side with no spaces for it to work - and it will convert to ©. I have only done this on word documents so don't know if it works in other programs.

To all of you, If you are adding text to a Photoshop CS image and desire to add (c) to the text, how do you do it in Photoshop? Also, I can not get the alt, num lock 0169 to work. (c) will work in word. What am I doing wrong? I have a PC - Windows XP. Thanks.

Hi Amy, I have just tried the Alt+ 0169, and it works OK in Photoshop. Make sure your Numbers Lock is on ... as I forgot to put it on the first time! Regards, Del

This is absolutely GREAT news! I've actually been typing the word copyright. I know there is a copyright symbol in photoshop but I was looking for an easy way using the text tool! Thanks soooooooooooo much! BTW - I tried it in Photoshop CS and it works beautifully .. alt/num lock on/0169

What is really nice about using alt 0169 is that you can use the font of your choice! Except there are those few funky fonts that don't support the copyright symbol (example: Julie's hand font I think is one). A really nice idea is to actually make a brush of your copyright signature! That way you can just choose the brush and set your copyright down on your photo in 2 seconds! Bypass using the text box all together!

The font type is an issue. I was having a terrible time getting the alt/0169 to work until I read that it may not work with Times New Roman. It will work with Arial Font.

Okay, I'm just not getting it to work. I've tried all fonts. Most of the time a question mark comes up instead of (c). (in photoshop) And, if I'm in Word, just a circle pops up. When I go to character map under system tools, it says the combo for (c) is alt 0169 just like you all say, I just can't get it to work???? And I've even got numb lock on. HELP!!

Just to make sure, are you holding alt down while typing 0169?

Hmmm...that's odd...I've never had a problem with it not working (except for the occasional fonts)....sorry, I can't help you!

I forget if this is the same in CS but in PS7, you can access a copyright symbol by using the Custom Shape tool. The copyright symbol is under the "symbols" group. Not very straightforward as typing in the ANSI character code, but it works.

Amy- if you are working on a laptop remember your numbers are on the keyboard. It won't work with the numbers along the top row. (At least I don't think it will) There is a numlock key on the laptop keyboard in the upper right hand area of the keyboard.

Amy - If you are on a normal keyboard, you should use the number keypad on the right side of the keyboard, not the numbers across the top of the keyboard. HTH

Ahhh...haaa.... my problem. I'm on a laptop without a numberpad. Problem solved. I know I can copy/paste from the character map. But, how do you create the "brush" like somebody suggested? Thank you.

In photoshop CS you can also click on the shape tool and look through the shapes. You may have to add more shapes to the list of shapes it's showing you, which you do with that little arrow above the list of shapes. There's a copyright symbol in there. I found that very useful.

On the laptop, the number pad is on the alpha keys. Do as Damian said, then use the numbers on the alpha keys.
