Where to Find Curves?

I have Photoshop 2.0, and I don't know where to find the curves option.

I believe it's under Image - Balance - Curves. Hope this helps.

If you mean Photoshop Elements 2.0, Curves is not available in that program. You need a full copy of Photoshop to access Curves.

If it's Elements 2 you have, locate a copy of the old Photoshop LE, which often comes free with digital scanners and cameras, or is sold very cheap on auction sites. LE has curves. It's under Image/Image Adjust.

  Mike,
Richard Lynch is the author of "The Hidden Power of Photoshop Elements 2".
The cost is about $40 US. The book comes a CD that contains practice files and several Power-User tools, including Curves. You can read more about this book at www.hiddenelements.com.

Thanks, Mary -- this may be an old post but I just saw it. You can get Hidden Power books on Amazon for less than that! The Hidden Power 4 book is just under $20, and has 100 tool additions, including a substitution for working with Curves. See it here: http://aps8.com/hppe4.html They should be selling autographed copies in the betterphoto.com bookstore soon!

Lewis, Curves is actually hidden in the Elements 1, 2, and 3 interface. My Hidden Power books and tools make it available for those versions. In Elements 4 I show how to use Gradient Maps as a work-around to produce curve-like results that are essentially identical.

However, I think there are better ways to process images without curves. I barely ever use them in my image editing.
