Image Backup: DVD Versus CD-R Is there any loss in image quality if I back up images on DVD compared to CD-R?

If you mean storing the files on DVD or on CDR, then no. If you mean creating a DVD-movie slideshow, then yes. The creation of a movie slide show shrinks the image down to about 720x520 pixels - basically, around 1MP. So you lose a lot of quality. Simply storing your original files on a DVD to back them up does not affect the quality of the images.
