  51 .  Export Plug-in for Lightroom
Is there any chance that an export plug-in will be developed for Lightroom?

There exist ones to upload photos to various sites (Shutterfly, iStockphoto, Facebook, etc). One for BetterPhoto would be really nice!

52 .  Enroll question for Simon Stafford
Hi, this is a question for Simon Stafford.
I just enroll to the Nikon D 80 Camera Course yesterday at night (october 12th) , and my due day for Lesson number 1 is today (wednesday october 13th).
I havent read all the lesson and at least I need a week for taking the pictures. Are you OK with this?
Please let me know, regards Lorena Simon

  Hi Lorena,
Welcome to BetterPhoto's online school! Since your question was posted in the main site Forum, rather than in class, I just emailed Simon to let him know. A lot of people have enrolled in classes over the past few days, so you aren't the only one :-)

Thanks, Lorena, and if you have any questions about accessing Campus Square, feel free to email me at kerry@betterphoto.com

Uau!! thank you Kerry for your answer. I`m just learning how to use this site. regards

  Hi Lorena,

Welcome to the class! There's no problem on jumping in a bit late as I am very relaxed over the assignment deadlines. Why don't you take your time and submit the lesson 1 & 2 assignments together next week if that helps you, or just submit the lesson 1 assignment when you are ready.

If you have any problems or questions just e-mail me at: info@simonstafford.co.uk, or contact Kerry.

  53 .  Competed courses
I completed two online courses about two years ago and recently signed up for two more. I can't find anywhere in my courses info about my completion of these first two courses. Am I looking in the wrong place or have they been removed?
Thanks

9/28/2009 8:20:58 AM

  Hi Tanya,
Thanks for the note, and it's great that you have enrolled in two more classes!!

In your Member Center, if you click on the "My Courses" tab, you should see all of your courses - past and present - under the Your Campus Squares header.

I'll follow-up with an email.

Thanks again.

  54 .  Proposed Course Dates for 2010
Can anybody please help?

I am currently working on the 'Fundamentals of Photography' course with Jim Zuckerman. I wish to pursue a number of other courses over the next 18 months. My problem is that I work in Baghdad (Iraq) and have problems with subject matter and freedom of movement for shooting photo's. I therefore, wish to time my leave and time at home with the course dates. However, I need to apply for leave in advance, so have to start planning now.

Can anybody provide me with the proposed dates of courses for 2010 please?

Many thanks,
Ian......

8/1/2009 1:34:14 AM

  Hi Ian,
Great hearing from you, and thanks for asking!

Four-week courses start each month on the first Wednesday.

Eight-weekers are quarterly, and in 2010, start dates will be January 6th,
April 7th, July 7th, and Oct. 6th.

Thanks again for your interest, Ian!

55 .  Matting, Framing and Photo Presentation
In the course selection, I seem to find a course on correctly putting the final touches on a photo which you wish to display either for sale in a gallery or show or in your own home. I'd like to suggest the addition of a course that covers the theoretical aspects of presentation. We can't all afford to go to a frame shop and have the work done for us and even if we could, we still need the knowledge to know that it was done right. Could a course of this type be added to the selection of courses? I guess the real question is- Is there enough interest in a photo presentation course to justify adding it?

7/26/2009 8:06:52 AM

  Hi Jeffrey,
Thanks for your interest in a framing course. In the past, we did have a course on the subject of "do it yourself" framing and matting, but unfortunately, there was not enough interest to continue it. However, we'll keep your suggestion in mind, just in case!

Thanks again.

  Kerry,
Thanks for the response, I had a feeling that lack of interest was involved. In the meantime I'll take a trip to the bookstore and try to find an in depth reference. I just started selling some of my work and believe my weakest area is in the matting and mounting portion of presentation. The images get lots of oohs, awes and wows so I think I'm doing that part right. I owe a lot of that to Kathleen Carrs Beginning Photoshop course.
Thanks,
Jeff

7/28/2009 6:15:25 AM

  Hi Jeff,
Good hearing back from you, and I'm glad that you enjoyed Kathleen's Beginning Photoshop for Photographers course. Also, a big congratulations on starting to sell your work ... that's really awesome!!!

  Hi Jeff,
While I'm not giving the class anymore, there is still an article about framing on my site: siskinphoto.com. Here's a link to the article: www.siskinphoto.com/magazine/zpdf/framing.pdf
Thanks,
John Siskin

  Hi John,
Thanks for the info, I took a quick look at the article and it will be helpful. One of the issues I've run into is with the various tapes used for hinging. I haven't found one that I like. The Hinging Tissue Lineco makes is nice- unless you're a fumble fingered old guy like me, in which case it becomes a PITA. I'm finding that snapping the shutter is the easy part.
I bookmarked your blog as it looks like you have a lot of useful info there.
After I'm back to work I plan to take some more courses, a layoff got me to take a shot at selling since the UC check doesn't reach. So far the printer has made money, the frame supplier etc. has made money but I haven't. I think that is coming though since I'm slowly recovering start up costs.
Again Thanks to both you and Kerry.
Jeff

What are you hinging? The mats, in which case white artists tape is ok: or the prints to the board, in which case, don't. Hinging the print is a bad idea, use archival corners and print on oversize paper so the corners don't show. Thanks, John Siskin

Looks like I'll be picking up some archival corners and using the tape for hinging the mat to the mount board. I've found so much conflicting info on the best way to mount the print to the board it was making my head spin. Thanks for clearing that issue up for me.

I took a class that is way over my head.I am still struggling with the first and second lesson.I would like credit for the remaining four weeks. Is this possible??Maybe I could take something more on my level.I am almost 70 which may be part of the problem. The teacher explains everything in detail--not his fault!!!

Asking for credit might better be served if you send a direct email to either the BP folks or the class instructor.
As far as what you are or aren't understanding about whatever class that is, you can ask stuff in the q&a section. Anybody who can give you some answers will and somebody who may have taken the whichever course you're talking about may help you as well.
Are you actually getting too much detail, or is too much technical sounding language that's throwing you off?

7/23/2009 2:26:29 PM

  Hi Anita,
Sorry to hear that you've had problems in class. Gregory provided some excellent advice and questions. I'll email you directly.

57 .  Transferring my member photos 2 course gallerys
Is there anyway to get my photos from my member gallery to my course gallery? It seems to me there should be a way to do this so I don't end up having to upload the same photos twice.

6/11/2009 11:37:55 PM

  Hi Elizabeth,
Yes, this can be done ... see below. Thanks for asking!
Kerry

You can enter existing images into the Campus Square by using the photo id numbers. To find the photo id #'s, sign in to your Member Center, click on the "Better Photos" tab, and then click on Edit Your Photos link. You'll see the photo ID# under the particular thumbnail pics.
Open up a separate browser window, sign onto your BetterPhoto membership again and then:

- Go to My Courses tab and click on course title link to enter your Campus Square.
-In Campus Square, click on the Photos tab.
- Then, click on the "Upload New Photos" link.

At the bottom of the first uploading page, click on Alternate Image Uploader.

On the image uploader page, enter the # of images you will be uploading to this lesson, and select the assignment number (or Portfolio).

Click on Continue.

Now, copy and paste the photo id#'s into the small field to the right of the file name field. You do not need to enter title, etc., as it is already attached to the image.

Now click on Submit Your Photo and this image will be copied from your personal gallery to whatever you had designated (Portfolio or assignment).

  60 .  my betterphoto gallery
I am taking a betterphoto course. I have also submitted two photos to the contest and to my gallery. My member center info says my photos are displayed but I cant reach my gallery. When I select view gallery it brings me to a page where I can purchase the basic membership. How can I view my gallery?

6/2/2009 9:39:38 AM

It may be that your gallery isn't active yet as you just became a member yesterday. You should email BP about it

You may need to respond to a verification email or make your gallery active. Your name is not a clickable link so your gallery is not yet open.
