Pam, why didn't you take out the branch on the left, so that it does not take away from the spider, my opinion only

Pam, Stan's right if you can get that out of there your eye will go straight to the vocal point of the photo.

hmm I've put it on my desktop to think over for a few days ... but i'm fairly certain i'm keeping it the way it is. If I do, I'll explain why.

If others have an opinion here ;) ... speak up.

lol stan, did I sound intimidated? i'm thinking about it ... I make no promises one way or the other ... but I do enjoy knowing what people think.

otherwise i'm glad ya'll like the little spider ... he was very shy and I had to be very patient with him... and I think that the chiggers used him for bait on purpose ... just because it would take me forever.

well between him and my camera. one reason i'm not jumping up and down about doing something else with this is that what I want to do would take a lot of ps work because my camera is sick so the quality of the pic is actually not so hot either. but i'm thinking.

[i'm thinking of being in panic w/o my camera while it gets fixed but if they can't fix it, I get another ... at the same $$$ that I spent 1.5yrs ago ... anybody watching quality go up and prices come down besides me?]

I could just do the simple thing and crop but ... it would then just be another bug on a flower ... and you know how I hate being just another one going by.

... and i'm feeling guilty because my own pc is back together and much happier and so now I have no excuse for not working on two sets of very important pictures that people are patiently waiting on.

but I love this little spider too ... so i'm thinking ...

have fun,
pam

You are a crazy girl Pam, but I think the angle on this shot is great, and the overall picture very cool!!!

THANKS DANIEL!!! I'm glad you think I'm a crazy girl ... everyone else calls me "that crazy woman camped out in the corner at Starbucks" ;) since I am uh prematurely gray ... right ...

ok so ... tomorrow i'm going to make all the other patrons nuts ... "hey tell me what you see here" and they'll say something between "cool" and "creepy" and then I'll have to point to the twig and say "now do you think it would be better without that?"

It was late last night so I only got to do it once ... but her response was "no way! it would be missing balance!" I like that girl much better now. ;) And I thought she was very smart because that's what I keep thinking.

So ... the jury's still out ...

(but just between you and me ... it's not the twig ... it's the placement of the leaf ... the leaf needs to be slightly more entire and slightly further down in the lower left corner ... you know in my ever so humble opinion ;)

have fun,
Pam

Dont feel bad Pam, my nikon is in for repair, now the waiting game till it comes back, cant you just eye drop in pse, it matches the colour of the background and no croping required

mmmm well, stan, I could ... but then I think I would feel like the spider is going to fall out of the picture.

I don't pse ... I have ps f o u r ... sometimes I feel it a bit but mostly I can get to just about the same effects with maybe an extra step or two.

Are the stars and moon and sun and other planets in some sort of electrical failure alignment? We've had nothing but equipment issues for the last six - eight weeks and I know Protacio had to send his digital off a bit ago too.

Today I got to "play" on my niece's mac ... it's one of the big nice g machines ... it got kinda old so she inherited it from some of their friends ... the lucky duck! but she's a bit intimidated by it so she's not been using it. I sat with it today to work on my "Dad Goes Home" pics.

It's amazing ... I think I got three times as much work done as I usually would. ok well it helped that I felt the time limitation ... but power and good tools are sooo helpful!

oh now don't think i'm saying mac's are better than pc's ... I personally can't tell the difference so much ... they both have their ups and downs ... and I think both of their creators are over the edge now ... so ... don't even get me going on mac vs pc ... cause neither side will win but it'll be a bloody battle ;) I've been around both longer than some of you have been outta diapers.

What the mac had that my old pc doesn't is power and newer software and a tablet with a pen. And it was very very very very nice.

Anyway so now I get to teach her how to use her mac. I'm looking forward to it.

have fun,
me

Idont think the spider is going to fall off, we expect a spider to climb this as you have captured it, he/it is attached to the thistle, we all have seen a spider/fly climb this way but if you think it looks like the spider will fall out of the image, then its ok

LOL ROTF ... well i'm still thinking thru my options. I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

So far ... my causual observers are still in the "What? why wouldn't it be there? I wouldn't expect it to be the only flower in the field." They've all been very confused about why i'm asking them about the twig. ... so i'm getting the impression I want ... that the flower's part of a field (and no they don't know about the chigger story first) but I think it can be improved ...

next week.

have fun,
me

  how you doing fellows?

Haven't cropped/cloned-out/amputated this picture yet? hehehe

I haven't followed the discussion, but every time I get into this thread I cover the branch on the left and the picture improves a lot. It doesn't look bad this way, but we all have heard before that it is important to simplify an image.

See ya.

Pam, I like the branch in the picture. It's parallel, it adds some pattern to the frame. It doesn't compete with the subject as it is at another depth and hence out of focus. In fact it might be nice to see more of it.

There is no doubt the spider is the subject of this photo and it's nice to see something going on around it.

Its a great shot. Creepy.

  LOL are ya'll entertained yet?

Ok ... now that we've come full circle back to what I said I wanted to do in the first place ;) ... I'll see if I can't get to it before I put it in a printed portfolio.

Plus my imagination won't leave me alone about another shot that I have of these two

... so ... somewhere some time ... we will revisit this ... I promise to call your attention to it ... but in the mean time ...

I call time out :-P

I think I'm going to get to post two new pics tonight ... so ... go have fun with another one of my pics ;)
