Today I took my father to the Veterans Hospital for a doctors appointment, then we were sent to get a CAT scan. While in the waiting room we were approached by two candy stripers with beautiful red, white and blue bouquets of flowers. They gave us each a bouquet, and thanked my father for his service to Our Country. They told us the flowers were let over from the Memorial Day celebrations. Dad and I chatted about how beautiful the flowers were, as we saw several other people passing by with the bouquets they had been given.
After the CAT scan, while waiting for the elevator, a sweet elderly couple asked us where we got the flowers. I handed her one of our bouquets as I explained the story. She turned to her husband and said something about putting them on a grave.
Later in the hospital we passed by each other again where she thanked me for the second time and said they were on their way to put the flowers on their sons grave.

Sometimes we don't realize what simple acts of kindness can do for others and how far reaching it can be.

The flowers went from Trader Joe's, to the candy stripers, to us, to the sweet couple, to their son's grave all through simple acts of kindness. Profound stuff.

I thank Trader Joe's for donating the flowers to the Veteran's Hospital.
