Congratulations Tad on this well deserved win. Seeing these golden aspen takes me back to Stephen's Pass in Washington State where they shine in all their glory each year. Dale

I highly respect and admire Tad's works. Tad is one of few landscape photographers who made me realize landscapes can convey emotions and feelings. This particular work stands out in his landscape works for its highly stylized presentation. Simplified texture and color contrast are almost like a design. In fact, it's a design created by mother nature and Tad framed it to share with us. The beauty of the gold leaves stands out against the black rocks and it's ethereal. I praise the judges for recognizing this beautiful work of art.

I too, respect and admire Tad's work. I've told him before, but, it needs to be repeated. I am well aware that art is subjective. I know that not everyone will like every piece that we do. Having said that, I can't believe that anyone would be mean spirited in a comment, on this website. I thought we had this comment forum, so that we could praise , encourage, and lift each other up. Now, about the photo, the "perpendicular" aspect is what makes it special. The rocks behind the aspens are completely straight in the frame, yet the aspens are swayed to the right. Any of you guys who have spent time around aspen stands, have seen this, alot. Aspens tend to grow in avalanche chutes. The trees get pounded with heavy snow, but they hang in there. They are strong, yet delicate, in their structure. They are the perfect compliment to the majestic mountain ranges that they inhabit. Thank you, Tad for sharing those beautiful mountains with us!
