1/250 sec at f/2.0, ISO 100, manual exposure, 85mm (prime) This is about as shallow a DOF as I can get with my lighting setup and space I'm working in.

Hi,

You have some truly beautiful portraits in this gallery. I see that you've used the Canon 40D and 20D cameras. What lens do you use? Is it the 85 mm f/1.8 or f/1.2L?

Why is it that you can't use a wider aperture than f/2.0?

Thank you. I have the 85mm 1.8 lens. I was not able to use a wider aperture than 2.0 for this image with my studio lights. I had them all the way turned down and f/1.8 just let in too much light. When working with studio lights, shutter speed doesn't affect amount of light let in, so I just have to adjust the aperture.
