Alone
Alone

She knelt in prayer. I saw her hands upon the flag’s sweet folds, shedding tears on stars upon a sea of blue.
She returns home heart-broken and alone. A scene that has repeated itself more than 1000 times at this one
cemetery since it opened on January 3, 2006. Her husband was a long-time close friend and co-worker of
more than 20 years who died as a result of service in Tikrit, Iraq.

What a touching image, Jim. The cost of preserving freedom is a high one and bless these families for being strong enough to pay it. Please tell her she's in my prayers and that I'm so grateful to her and her husband.
