	Pacific Loon ISO 800, f/8, 1/400 sec, Canon 400mm DO IS lens, handheld. This species of loon is rarely close to shore for good closeup shots. This shot was taken in Blaine, WA during a birding field trip, as this bird came within 20 yards of the pier. There were dozens of these birds feeding when we showed up and several hours later, we couldn't find one. John Tubbs
