Moonrise Over Bodie
Originally recorded on Ilford XP1 B&W Chromogenic film in 1977 using a deep red filter. Electronically colorized using PS-7, total of 72 layers and almost 3 weeks to complete. In order to get this shot, I waited until the parking lot was empty and every "living" soul was gone. The sun was barely on the horizon and thus had to use a very long exposure at a very small aperture setting in order to maintain adequate depth of field....The moon was added as were the lightning bolts, but the clouds are real. Popular legend has it that the "permanent" residents of Bodie still congregate amongst themselves at night when all of the tourists have left.....Although I didn't see any apparitions, I tried to imagine what the old town might have looked like back then when it was inhabited but a B&W print just couldn't convey what I was trying to achieve, so I colorized it.

Masterfully done, AJ. The mood is wonderfully mysterious and the image is rich in details to explore. I wish I could view a larger version. I would also love to see the original B&W. Steve
