As you learn about exposure and the latitude of your film or digital image sensor, you know when you can capture shots like this - where the sun is enough behind the clouds to be overexposed in order to capture detail in the rest of the scene.
Plus, the snow acting as a fill card, bouncing in light to your subject doesn't hurt too.
All while the storm light changes every second, and you have to capture moving subjects in knee-deep snow!

Thank you Lisa,
Learning exposure takes time, practicing in a variety of circumstances. But as you improve, you find ways to use your limitations to your advantag e- and that's when you truly begin to create images.
