Back In Time - The Spitfire
This type of image always plays with my mind, taking me back to days long past, the days of World War II. The Supermarine Spitfire Mk 16 was but one of a series of fine war birds built by the British. This plane is flown regularly at its home in Polk City, Florida by its owner Kermit Weeks at Fantasy of Flight.Taken November 11, 2007

I have my fathers war photos and it features one of the fighter planes but not this one.. I love the selective colouring leaving the background black and white... a great find..

Thank you Laney. When I see a photograph that is partially black and white and color I feel as though I'm looking back in time. I'm old enough to remember when movies and television were strictly b&w. By desaturating the background I've lost the brightly painted red & white checker boarded water tower. To totally satisfy my mind the Spitfire should be in black and white representing the past but the authentic paint job on the Spitfire begged to be seen. I'll be returning to this place soon where I hope to get more photos. It is very unusual to have the planes out of the hanger. The Brits built over 20,000 of these handsome planes.
