Chuck and Joerg - Thank you both for participating in my little experiment. What I first see is a mutual admiration between each of us for the beauty of antique or old and well worn modes of transportation. Most of mine have yet to be uploaded. Two extra "POTB's" helps, but it's a lot short of what I had hoped for. I'm still trying to figure out what actually "excites" these BP Editors! .....For example..... Chuck: your portrait of "Old Maintenance Truck" in your gallery is a well composed and well lighted depiction of the kind of symbolism that portrays the typical demise of what once was the goal of every American, which was, Quality, Pride and Workmanship in a product that can enhance the American way of life. The symbolism of that broken branch touching both the red turn signal (which always signifies STOP!) and the GM logo, tells a poignent story in and of itself. What was once a beautiful old mechanical workhorse now simply occupies an insignificant space along a roadside somewhere in Missouri. For me, personally, I see a kind of poetry in that and yet these BP Editors completely glossed over it for something less thought provoking and perhaps more simplistic and mundane. Joerg: "Frosty Morning Chores"...I like that one. Not only is this a well executed image, it TELLS A COMPLETE STORY!!! What I see,.....is the anticipation of a big-rig driver preparing himself for the challenge of what lies ahead.....slippery roads, inexperienced drivers unaccustomed to sudden changes in "normal" driving patterns and the "idiots" who just don't give a damn about their own safety or the safety of others.....There's snow all around you and the ice on the mirror, which is your only hope of avoiding a collision from encroaching traffic wanting to pass, has to be thoroughly cleaned off before you can carry on with your work for the day. In this shot you're wearing a hooded pull-over which no self respecting trucker would ever do unless it was damned cold! Just under your nose is what appears to be a small clump of frost. If it's not, it is now! You also have a look of determination on your face to just "git 'er done" and get on the road and do what you have to do..... I love photos like this that tell a story without having to actually "spell it out" and that's why the good Lord gave us imagination and the wherewithal to interpret the nuances that others leave behind for us. Of course, as you both know, neither of these two images managed to capture the imagination of the BP Editors so, I guess nobody's perfect! To both of you, keep up the good work, document what you see, ignore pre-disposed "editors" and continue to make a mark for yourselves as a "Photoist". AJ

Hi A J! I am so pleased that I discovered your work as a result of your comments in the discussion thread. Your images are nothing short of brilliant. I am too damn tired tonight to comment in detail, but I will be back soon. To be honest, I hope to pick your brain as well as admire your artistry. :) Steve
