Soft Light-Hard light

Soft Light-Hard light
There is one big soft light source here and three hard lights. One of the hard lights makes the light along the left side of her face. Another lights the background and there is a bare bulb light in front of the subject to build contrast and create sparkle in the eyes.

John- I really like this one :) You can see that bare bulb as a tiny catch-light, I love that :) I also like the shiny look on her lips created by the one hard light. This makes for a gorgeous portrait! Thanks for sharing the set up.

Hi Jayme,
I like this one also. I like it so much I use it in my Portrait class. This is part of a series of images that explain the differences between had and soft light. You can see how the hard light here defines the face while the soft light opens up the face and smoothes out the features. Thanks! John
Ps. This shot is part of an article in the current issue of Photo Techniques Magazine.
Thanks, John
