Beautiful IR picture, Gary. I have the Canon EOS300D camera and I just bought the Hoya R72 for IR. Can you tell me how you took this photo? Thanks, Ilana.

Good morning everyone - thanks for the wonderful comments! Ilana, that's the same filter I use. I think the exposure time on this shot was around 8 seconds as it was a bright sunny day. Usually I use anywhere from 6 to 15 seconds in bright sunlight or longer if the lighting is subdued. I prefer to shoot with it on brightly lighted days with those nice puffy white clouds. This was taken when the fall folliage was in full form, which creates the different tonal ranges. Although the camera's autofocus will work just fine through an IR filter, I prefer to focus manually so I remove the filter, pre-focus the scene as I want it, then carefully put the filter back on and shoot. After that it's just a matter of desaturating the image in PS and adjusting contrast & sharpening.
