Terrific composition--love the way that expanse of sky holds its own against well-defined building and the silhouette of the tree. The lighting is superb here, Mitch. My very big thanks to all of you for your comments. I am so very pleased that you like this. The Omaha shoot was enormous fun, and I thank all the organizers once again for putting it together for us and getting us to this place in this light. It has been marvelous and so instructive to see what everybody has produced from that experience. As a one-time native Nebraskan (now Missourian), this particular scene seemed so classically "prairie" to me. I am very much aware of how much Nebraskans treasure trees (not so many of them there, you know). It is where Arbor Day was begun. And so the inclusion of the tree just seemed right to me. I know that another state bills itself as the Big Sky State, but truly, the wide, wide Midwest has such big skies too, and so I did enjoy trying to capture that feeling. I didn't do a great deal to this image--simply enhanced and deepened the color somewhat, particularly in the sky, and dealt with a couple of too-light areas on the barn.
