Hi Karen,

Great action shot! And a strong use of thirds with the woman on the left third line, the water/rock horizon on the top, and best of all, the dog running furiously into the right lower third power spot—that moment of action says it all. Moss Landing in the background is a nice touch; it adds depth, places the scene, and keeps the right side alive—no dead space here. Well done.

A detail, but an important one. Notice how the horizon is tilted to the left? You may think that you can “fix it later in Photoshop,” which is better than a tilted ocean, but see how much of the pretty sky and Moss Landing got cropped off in the process? I know this was an action shot, but in general know that it’s better to catch it in the camera if you can.
