I am not a mushroom hunter but we have so many types around our house that I had to take some photos of them. The squirrels are picking them and storing them in trees so, it is not uncommon to see a mushroom in a tree around these parts. But, this colorful mushroom was hidden by lots of other plant life. I kept the grass in the foreground as I wanted it to add to what the photo depicted. I focused on the mushroom which tells the story. Not sure what kind it is but it sure was pretty!

I think it is a GREAT find too!! Great DOF and colors in this Phil! I think you did a fabulous job focusing your attentions on it and showing it's beauty among the rubbish! ☺

Phil, I think you found "Alice in Wonderland"s private stash of mushrooms! :-) The colors and your perspective makes this a very magical looking place!

Thanks, Joannie! Ha, I like that, "Alice in Wonderlands private stash of mushrooms". I just may have now that you mention it! This is the most unique mushroom I think I have seen as far as color anyhow. Hope you had a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!

  Thank you Donna & Robert!

Robert, I did lay low on the ground to get the right angle and selected focus. Good thing was, I was laying on tundra so it was not bad. I don't have to worry about Tarantula's around here thank goodness but the bigger wildlife can sometimes be a scare!

Hey, thanks Sharon!!! Yea, it was the most colorful of the many different kinds we have growing out here. Funny, just tonight I saw a squirrel carrying a few to the local nesting tree. I wonder if they know which are good?

Great catch! Love the colors and the surrounding grass.

Hope the squirrels weren't taking any of this kind! That's an Amanita muscaria, which is poisonous. Amanita species in general are considered toxic... This one is the quintessential poisonous mushroom listed in most books and posters to scare people off from eating mushrooms they find, but the pure white Amanita are more toxic.

:-)

Wow, thanks Pam!!!! We have so many different kinds and it would not surprise me that the most colorful of all that we have is the most dangerous. Thanks for providing the link and information!!!
