Missouri River
This picture was taken from the same spot as the University of Mary picture from yesterday. I just turned the camera to the west. The large water body in the background is the Missouri River. The creek in the bottom of the photo is called Apple Creek. While they are only small dots, the buildings on the far hills, in the upper right hand corner of the photo, are from North Dakota's Fort Abraham Lincoln.

Rich in both military and early Native American history, Fort Abraham Lincoln was once an important infantry and cavalry post. It was from this fort that Lt. Col. George Armstrong Custer and the Seventh Cavalry rode out on their ill-fated expedition against the Sioux at the Little Big Horn. Portions of the military post, including the Custer House, have been reconstructed. Popular with visitors is On-A-Slant Indian Village. Reconstructed earthlodges depict the lifestyle of the Mandan Indians, who occupied this site from about 1575-1781.

Now this is superb, Ron! Because of the excellent vertical composition and the way the view extends to the far ground!
Highly achieved and delightful 3 aspects of the landscape - foreground, the middle ground and the far ground!
