Hummer Bee Combo

Melissa Wynn

Gary, Nice composite of the three different shots. Hummingbirds are one of my favorite subjects, and this one really caught my eye. You captured all the elements of this very well. Your focus is excellent I am curious how you managed to capture the bee flying away from you so clearly. I have been trying to capture a bumble bee in flight in my garden, and have not had a really good shot yet. Any suggestions? I am using a tripod when I try to capture the bee, but he is just so darned quick! My camera is a sony cybershot, and while I can adjust some settings manually, I don't have the options of DSLR. Nicely done composite. Thanks for sharing. Missy

Melissa, Thank you for your interest in the photo. I have a Nikon D80 with a 70-300 lens that I use for hummers on occasion. The bee photo was taken at 300mm, F7.1, 1/2500 sec and ISO 1250. It was captured in a hummer photo. I will attempt to send you that photo.

Fantastic capture, Gary. A hummer and bee all in one. That is great.

You did a great job on this composite - way to go Gary. We just might see this as a finalist. Did you enter this in Digital Darkroom?

Thanks for the encouragement Randy. Yes, I did enter it in Digital Darkroom. Thanks for asking. I see you have a fondness for Arizona as well. Beautiful country.
