Beautiful Samantha in swing basket

Samantha in swing basket
Samantha is the beautiful daughter of a Maori (native New Zealander) and white Irish European. The results are the strong, high cheek bones of her father, and the fair skin and beautiful blue eyes of her mother.

Captured in a native swing basket at the home of her grandparents in 1998/99.

The settings are unknown. A Pentax K-1000 film camera with a 200 mm focal length. The sunlight separated her hair from the background.
A fill flash off the camera about the same height as the subject, but at a 45 degree angle was used.

Your comments are so kind. Thank you very much for commenting.

I love photographing children especially in their native and natural environment, outside. In fact, I began photographing children in "God's natural environment" in Vail, Colorado where I lived from 1963 until my marriage in 1989. For a while, my little business brought in enough money that I didn't have to work three jobs to pay my room, board and lift ticket, plus two months during mud season and a down payment on a piece of property. It was a very good year!

We were in New Zealand, where our daughter moved to stay with a great guy whom she met in London after college graduation. Simon not only paid her way down there, but paid her way roundtrip back to the States for a visit and back to his home in New Zealand again. But their relationship changed and she returned after acquiring her masters degree. She wanted to live anywhere in the USA.

New Zealand is an incredibly beautiful country, but it is not for materialistic people. Goods are very expensive to ship and duty is also expensive, as we both learned. That's why she wanted to return home.

Thank you for visiting my site. More images are coming from our travels, and from a class I'm currently taking to learn the Canon EOS 20D.

Have a great evening!

What a fabulous portrait, Bunny. The chair makes it so interesting, and the child is beautiful.
