Beautiful smile and moment of joy you captured on a child that maybe has more sad moments than happy ones! Congrats on this finalist! Su

Su, You are so very right. This boy, who was probably 12 or 13 years of age, earns his own living. He is a native of Malam Jabba, Swat Valley, and lives in a house made out of mud and branches of trees. The rope he was holding in his hand, is a sling, attached to a wooden crate, on which he sells, different kinds of chocolates, toffees, sweets, chewing gum and chips of sorts. Since Malam Jabba is a hilly resort area of Pakistan, we stayed there for about 3 days, and became friends with this young guy, who used to come by selling his stuff. I felt sorry for him, seeing him trying to make a sale all day long, and going back home with his crate almost full. That day, I bought a few things from him, and paid him almost 3 or 4 times the actual sale price. His joy was worth seeing. This snap was taken a little while after that. I wish, that children of the world don't have to work to earn their own or their family's living. I just hope some day, the dream may come true. Love to all. Omer
