Critiques welcome. I am 10 years old. My mom is a BP member too, Carol Teal. I am using her old camera now.

Justin, for just being 10, you've got a good eye. Looks like mom taught you the rule of thirds. And the contrast of the texture of the stones and the canteen is great. I might have photoshopped out the grass, but one could argue it was a splash of color. :) Way to go!!!

Tricia thank you very much for your nice comment. Yes, my mom told me about the rule of thirds, and I have a grid that I can use on my camera if I need to. I do like the grass for the color.

This is my little piece of advice, and it works particularly if you're doing fine art shots. YOU are the artists. if YOU achieved what you set out to achieve, then you were a success.

Hey Justin, you are destined to be a great photographer! It was 40 years before I knew about the rule of thirds. Well done. Nice detail!

Justin,
This one I like very much, very much indeed!! As much as I know you'll like photography. DON'T let it get in the way of School(EWW!!) Something you might practice is your set-up(what you want to photograph) what you want it to look like, the image I mean, look at it from
different ways, near and not so near, take your time before you take your shot.

Thank you again Tricia. I like your greyhound in you mini-picture.

Thank you Roger for looking and for your nice comment.

Willard, taking pictures is more fun than school, but I will work hard in class, or mom gets mad :) Thank you for looking and for your advice. I will remember that.

Justin, I didn't know you took this, and I love the texture and the gray of the rock and the color of the canteen. And you did good by not putting the canteen right in the middle of the photo! I don't know exactly where you found this, but this is something mom would have liked to have found first! You will have to point it out to me on the next trip :D

  HEY JUSTIN

NICE JOB
GOOD COMPOSITION.

THE EYE MOVES NICELY ACROSS THE WALL, WHICH IS NICE TO YOUR SUBJECT ON THE RIGHT.

I LIKE THE GREEN WEED BELOW THE CANTEEN
VERY CLEAR SHOT WITH NICE TEXTURE IN THE BRICK

THIS IS A GOOD EXAMPLE OF SEEING SOMETHING ORDINARY AND MAKING IT LOOK GOOD IN A PHOTOGRAPH.

YOU ARE ON THE RIGHT TRACK!!!

WELCOME TO BP
JOHN

Very nice image, Justin...and I agree with Tricia's comments. You are the artist. Learn the rules of composition, practice them, and then start breaking them. Pretty soon, you will have developed your own style.

You have a very good eye. Keep clicking!
Regards,
Mike B-

Hi Justin! I am a new member of BP and I really like your gallery. You are a very talented young man. I look forward to seeing more great stuff from you! :) Come see my gallery, too, and tell me which one you like best! Maybe we can learn new stuff TOGETHER! :)

P.S. I just learned the rule of thirds last month when I joined and someone said I made "good use of it!" ... We all learn at different paces. :)

Great to see you inherited your mothers gift of photography, you have a great teacher. You are already well on your way. Congratulation on your awards, and keep the photos coming. You just might win a first prize award some day. So glad your mother gave you her old camera. Kathy in NH
