This was shot with the Nikon D100 and Nikon 80-400 VR lens...at a full 400mm(600mm digital). setting for this were f8@1/1250sec. I have posted 2 mallards..the first was shot at f40/1/40sec..and I feel that at that setting the capture has much more a sense of motion...Thanks for your comments..Don

Don - was the camera hand-held? Also - how do you like that lens? I've been salivating over the new Nikon digital lenses and wondered if you felt the results justify the cost. While I agree the first one conveyed more of a sense of motion, I like the detail of this one better.

I vote for the one with motion, Don. This is beautiful but the bird looks frozen in flight. Both are wonderful shots.
