REO

Eagle radiator cap mascot on a 1910 REO "S"

Ransom E. Olds founded the Olds Motor Works in 1897 in Lansing, Michigan. After leaving the company because of a dispute, he founded the REO Motor Car company in 1904. REO produced a variety of cars and trucks (Speedwagons) from 1905 until 1936 when car production ceased. Through a series of mergers, etc., REO trucks (under names like Diamond REO, REO Giant, etc.) continued to be produced until the 1990s.

Great capture, James. I like the focus and the pose. Thanks for the history lesson too. Now I understand the crossword puzzle reference. Your collection of hood ornaments in your gallery is special.

My husband loves the group REO Speedwagon, and was thrilled when I showed him this photo. Now he knows where they got the name from :-)
