Thank you so much, Kirsi. I believe that areas of swamp - you know, cypress trees and stumps in the water and moss in the trees, just makes for nice images even without help. That shoebox filter really works to give that kind of scenery a special look.

I am a little shell shocked by getting a POTD (never thought it would happen because there is just so much wonderful work out there) and by all the wonderful congrats from all the folks I know here at BP and all of those who are new to me that also commented. I so appreciate you all.

Now for those who wanted to know about VP. It is Virtual Photographer - a free download that I was introduced to many months ago by Murry Grigsby, a super photographer and fellow Texan. You can get it at www.optikvervelabs.com/default.asp
You can download it as a stand alone program or as a plug in for Photoshop, etc. The shoebox filter is just one of many within VP.

Hope this helps. If you need anymore info just email me - I am always available to answer any questions I can. I am however just learning all this stuff (usually with trial and error) myself so may or may not be able to help.

Stacy - thanks! I did use several different things on this image. I described them in the details that are listed below the image. I buzzed the original, then used VP's shoebox filter and history brushed the crane back to the buzz. Then added a texture - probably sandstone from PS.
That is why it is in the Digital Darkroom category.
