Here are some notes on how this photograph was composed:
Although the colors in the cloud formation were quite intense, the actual cloud formation extended no more then 10 degrees above the horizon. The rest of the sky was rather boring. So, I decided to use around 100mm focal lenght (maximum on my lens) to magnify the clouds on the horizon. Then, I positioned myself on the beach to place the wet sand (that reflected the cloud colors) in the foreground and the monolith on the left 3rd.
This help fill almost 2/3 of the photograph was intense red colors that you see. Thank you for all your comments.
