The interesting lighting set this image apart from the norm. I also line the little man and his kayak facing this large on coming wave. It adds tension to the image. Well seen and excellent technique.

Wow! Thank you all for such wonderful comments. I shot this on a beach near San Francisco and watched the kayaker for some time waiting for a good opportunity to occur. When I finally snapped this, the sun was setting so it gave the water that interesting color.
