wow! Tracy, this is a GREAT portrait. It almost looks like it's been painted. Did you do anything to it other than just shoot it?

Thanx. Besides cropping and converting to b/w, I softened his skin just a touch and dodged the eyes a little as well. For added drama I darkened the outside edges for sort of a vignette.

Fantastic, I love it. Your lighting is great. How many lights did you use? Any lighting tips you would like to share would be greatly appreciated. I'm struggling with mine.

This is beautiful! I love the BW tone! What type of settings did you use when converting? I can't seem to get mine to look like this!

Michelle, I used 3 lights--one with softbox camera right and one with umbrella just behind me, and one with grid spot lighting the backdrop. Hope that helps. It's amazing how you learn something new after every try. Lesley, with this particular image I converted to duotone, then adjusted curves, levels, and sharpened. Thanks everyone for all your wonderful feedback.
