thank you everyone...
now if anyone can tell me why out of 4 duck flight photographs posted for March did the one I feel had the least in it's offering get a finalist and the other 3 not??? I am so confused... do they only allow you one per month in the catagory??? I don't believe so I see others have more then one... ok I guess I have a sad feeling this morning on contests...
had a photograph ready to post but feel like hummmmm it's a duck & flight and I already have more then one entered for April so maybe I best save until next month... sigh...
sorry I should know better contests are not what makes a winner print...
oh well... sigh...

Jill, I'm happy to see this here! I understand your frustration, as I've had several images that I thought were worthy but they didn't share my opinion. We've all been exactly where your at. One thing it does for me, it's made me better! I get more determined than ever to do better than my best! You go girl! Congrats on a wonderful image:0)

I don't know how the judges come up with their picks, but I too have had some of my favorites ignored. Such is life I guess, but please don't let it get you down! Just continue to post your wonderful images and let our comments serve as your reward and any prize will be a bonus!

Jack I have been a duck fan for oh gads hate for my age to show here...lol oh wait lets just say sense I was about 12 years old...LOL
my family are great wildlife lovers & hunters... I could never shoot a gun so my daddy got me a camera...lol
anyways I spend alot of spare time even steal time... days of it...lol
to go view & enjoy the ducks & geese... so over the years I have learned some spots very well and know just where they fly in at and how to be there when and if they fly in... still some luck to it some would say but I like to think of it as a big challenge... but it's all been worth it... I still always leave after a few hours or the day with them not getting one really great shots of flight but still feel very pleased... they are amazing & fun... oh gads that gal can ramble... lol sorry...
anyways it's just about checking them out and working like them... well in a sense... LOL

I do so understand what you are saying because on most days that is how I go about all this... but sometimes we just get frustrated... gads what a waste of emotion... sigh...
okaz I will move back to just enjoying the fact that other photographs find my work well done...

First and foremost Jill let me send a huge congratulations. Your pictures more than likley competed against each other. If you look at all the finalist there are not usually two winners of the same animal from the same person. I do know from listening to different judges they have preferences just like everyone and some of the very best photos are sometimes overlooked. If you really feel strongly about it post them again. I know someone that posted the same picture 3 times and the last one won First Place! Go figure

she was up for maybe a mintue when this shot was taken Jack... every move for some time from the water into flight they seem to carry water beads...I have flight shots where I am following them in air for over 3 minutes and still have alot of water beading on the breast and falling into air...
as stated above I was using the Nikon 70-300mm...
had some misfortune in the past & am rebuilding over $25,000 in photography equitment so really am shooting with just the basics right now... but as photographs we all learn that we can do wonderful things even with the simplist of equitment... but the toys sure are nice...LOL

oops sorry Donna we crossed in space...
first off thank you for taking the time to help me with my frustrations...
well I don't think that should matter about who submitted the photograph.,,it doesn't matter in flowers or macro's or a couple other catagories I see several people that get more then one finalist & have even seen them get more the one in place...
but your right they are the judges of this contest... I held my own & all mine won... LOL LOL
am feeling better about it all really... is because of your nice words & others that make me remember winning is not why I post... so I will move out of that wasted emotion of frustration on this and just keep on showing the best I can...

I have really enjoyed reading all these amusing responses and your passionate replies. But hey Jill I have just looked at your gallery and every one is a finalist!! Have you deleted all the ones that didn't make it? If so, had you thought that your fans might prefer the other ones that didn't make it? LOL Kate... yes I have managed to get a finalist every month sense I started here at BP... I only place them in the gallery area because it only allows you so many there... but someone was telling me that I can place my current work & then take them off of display as I have new ones... so I will maybe try that in the future...

Jill, after staring with amazement at the curvature of the wings in this capture, I came into your discussion thread and read from top to bottom...
My thoughts:
A.) CONGRATULATIONS! TOTALLY DESERVED!
