OoohmyGosh Gary! Breathtaking, Spectacular, Magnificant!!!! ---I'm taking a deep breath here before I faint---lol You have Just HAVE To Do a book or contact the Tourism Board for Alaska! There is no words to describe your abilities to capture this land. Btw... My youngest son who we thought would be a confirmed bachelor (well into his 30's) is getting married shortly. I've been showing your photos to them and they are going to plan a trip asap to see this place because of you.:-) They are going to British Columbia for a short honeymoon...but plan to make this their real trip once they can take enough time off together. When do you recommend would be the best time of year to go?

Wow! I didn't expect so much interest in this one! I'm certainly not complaining, mind you...just a little bit surprised :-) I'm very glad you all enjoyed it and I really appreciate your generous and supportive comments. Carol S., I'm very flattered that I generated so much interest in the scenery here that your son and his fiance are actually planning a trip! The best time of year depends a lot on what part of Alaska they want to visit and what they hope to see. The best time to visit the coast (like a ferry tour)in the summer is between early June and mid July, because we have the most of amount of clear sunny weather then plus there is still some snow on the mountains. Mid July through August and early September is best for visiting the interior because the coast is wet and foggy then, but the interior (like fairbanks) is quite warm, clear and can have some brilliant fall colors. Most of my photos are taken near Valdez on the coast. Feel free to have them email me when they're getting ready to plan and I'd be happy to help them with more detailed information.

Brrr... now this one makes me feel cold, Gary! I'm trying to decide if the tracks are coming from the mountain, or leading to it - that person could be lost out there! Or snow blind! I love all that soft whiteness, and the perspective and feeling of solitude you've captured here! Wonderful! Cathy :)

Thank you Cathy and Rick! Cathy, the tracks were coming from the mountain toward the camera and they must have trekked a long way because I looked for where the tracks might have left the highway on the way out and didn't find them.

Oh, I like this. It so simple an clean, and makes you think. Where did this person go? As it looks like they are going to the mountain(I know now that they don't) you worry about the person, and hope he/she came safely back. Coposition and the whitness of the snow is very good. :)T
