Snow shoes
This is the latest image in my bowling shoe epoch which can be seen at www.bowlingshoephotos.com where you can also get all the background on the series, should you care to. Shot with Nikkor 80-200 2.8 ED zoom, around 1/500 at f5.6 on an overcast day.

It finally snowed here last night which enabled me to finally get this image for my bowling shoe photo collection. So I thought I'd share it and see what you all thought, about this image and the rest of the series, if you decide to have a look. Thanks, in any case.

  Hi Bob:

I visited your bowling shoes gallery before and I liked both the idea as well as the technical execution.

It is a fun series (I just shared the link with my daughter and she enjoyed it very much), and this new “member” is as good as the previous.

On your http://www.bowlingshoephotos.com/ page both images (“showingers” and “trick or feet”) have a link to http://photopageflag/ but is not working.

As a friend of mine say: keep shoeing…oh sorry…keep shooting.

See you around
Protacio

Thanks Jane, and Protacio thanks for spreading the bowling shoe legacy to another generation. It really is a fun subject, gets me away from all that news and feature stuff that gets to be a drag now and then. Also, thank your friend for the encouragement. I fully intend to keep the red, white and blue size eights on the road for quite a while, at least until there's enough for the book.

Should be a real shoe-in, don't you think?

Have fun and thanks again.

A technically competent photo, Bob, but these kinds of series (like the "Red Couch" series) are a bit overdone, don't you think? I would compare them to the photography version of "America's Funniest Home Videos". How many times can you watch someone trip and fall at their wedding and still think it's funny? Same principle at work here. A whole book on this kind of stuff? Gee, I'll be waiting at the door of Barnes & Noble for that one! You're better than this, Bob. Get back to real photography!

I think it's fun! For once Bob is lightening up and doing something creative. To quote him above: "It really is a fun subject, gets me away from all that news and feature stuff that gets to be a drag now and then."
Great little hobby Bob! Keep it up!

Yeah, I guess W is right. Besides the fun of doing this off-beat bit, all I got was a six-month display in a national museum and hall of fame and coverage by at least six newpapers and all network and CNN TV stations in the St. Louis area. And on top of that, the project paid all my equipment and printing costs for the past two years.

Wait, that's all good stuff, who needs a book?

And yes, art photography is a HOBBY for me. Everybody should have one.

Have fun.

I saw the series before at the Bowling Hall of Fame. Trick or Feet is still my favorite, but Snow Shoes is a great addition to the "8 Shoe Family."
I'll be waiting at Barnes and Nobles for the book...I guess I am one of those people that won't get bored at America's Funniest Home Videos.

"Keep shoeing" as Protacio said.

Not sure if I like being linked to funniest home videos but thanks for visiting the show.

You're not the woman who chained herself to "Trick or Feet" and refused to leave until police came and made a mess of the whole show, beating and clubbing members of the crowd, are you? I hear they're still looking for her in seven states.

Man, that was a day, huh?

Anyway, thanks again.

Kidding, by the way, about the cops at least.

Have fun.

I like the whimsical aspect of this, Bob, putting a smile on the day to day. Proving again the value of extending photography beyond literal representations of the world.

Hey Bob, looks to be a pretty fun series to shoot.

As for "overdone", well--maybe. But it's like Robert William Service. He was writing poetry that all the "critics" of his time claimed was trite and overdone. He was also the only poet of his time to make a million dollars from his writing before he died! Sometimes a thing is overdone because the majority actually enjoys it. Kind of like digital art creations. :-) And Robert Service is still a favorite poet of mine!

Now, the bowling shoe thing looks creative and well done--and personally not my cuppa. But I judge a photo differently than some others. It isn't about my personal taste. Does it meet the artists expectations for it? Seems this one does to me. Is it will executed? Yes.

I love the contrast of the red on the shoes and hat against the snow!! Very creative. Glad to see you have a fun outlet to let off steam after shooting more serious journalistic images. We all need to have more than one avenue to express ourselves. That's what keeps the creative juices flowing and the hobby fun!! So are you also a fan of bowling or was it just a fun topic you decided to give a try??

Wow, much more response than I had hoped for. I guess I will keep the shoes on the road a while longer.

To answer Marcie, I bowled once, in eighth grade. Decided to do the shoes when my agent and I were looking for something fun and something that everyone, in the midwest at least, could identify with.

Thanks again everyone.
