thnx for all the kind comments.i was using a canon 100-400 L IS.he was also very still,unusual I know.managed to get 3 or 4 fairly good shots.

I ran into one of them once while out photographing herons at a nearby lake. It was quite a surprise, never seen one before in person! Luckily we were separated by a bunch of rocks so I didn't worry too much. I only got out one shot because of my fear, but he stood still and stared right at me also! Now I hope I never run into a beaver, those can be mean I hear. Nice close up of this guy btw!
