Capturing Winter's Wrath

BetterPhoto.com Photo Contest Finalist   Capturing Winter's Wrath
Capturing Winter's Wrath
Maryland's Upper Youghiogheny River..(pronounced; "Yock-a-ganey")is a popular destination for whitewater enthusiasts.
In winter, this sprawling river is transformed into a dramatic display of ice and rapids.
A second camera is set up on a nearby observation platform and fired by remote.

  Wow, what a beautiful photo.
Wonderful detail, shutter speed and exposure.
Great idea to include yourself in the photo.
Excellent sense of scale, as I'd have thought the rocks were much smaller.
Very well done!

Bob, I always enjoy reading your answers to questions in the snapshot newsletter. You are so knowledgeable and of course, a great photographer! This is such a good capture. I don't see you squeezing a remote so is this a timed capture where you were able to get in place before the shutter captured the photo or did you hide something from us??

  Thanks everyone for commenting.

Shirley,... the remote trigger is in a little velcro-enclosed pocket in the front of my neophrene waders, and is being activated with my left hand.
The triggering device (transmitter) of my Quantum Radio Slave is pretty small,...about half the size of a pack of cigarettes, so it's easily hidden from view.
With a fresh set of batteries, I can activate a motor-driven camera from up to 200 feet away.
Bob
