Blue drops

|
Blue drops Nikon 28-105 Macro lense. Southeastern exposure of natural light. This was not an easy shot but I am pleased with the end result.

What a gorgeous shot! I love the way the pattern and clarity of the flower image reflected in the droplets contrast with the out-of-focus flower in the background.

This is what I did to set up this shot. I used two aluminum pipe saw horses and put two boards across, then I put the fabric over the whole thing letting the center fall down to hold the flower away from the glass. This is to prevent unwanted material like the boards to reflect in the drops. I put the glass over the fabric and boards which were the support for the glass. Of course the flower goes under the glass letting the fabric cradle it gently. You have to raise and lower the fabric till you have the right focus and depth of field and then using a syringe from a printer ink refill kit I put drops of rainx and water mix all over the glass. I then took several shots at different exposures looking for shallow depth of field. I hope this is not too confusing to any of you. Good Luck!

Thank you so much for taking the time to send your instructions! They weren't confusing at all and I really appreciate it. I've tried this type of shot without success. Your method of draping the fabric under the glass is great!
