This hemipteran was guarding a bit of cholla, I liked the way it's back end and antennae blended in so well; Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge, New Mexico; f 4.0 1/650 @ 16.20 Macro; Cropped and enhanced in Photoshop; Feedback greatly appreciated!

Thanks, Jill. I really appreciate your coming to find all my shots! Is there some way I could easily find the ones you enter? I haven't been able to watch all the new entries.... Pam

I took this picture just the other day of a bug. I'm wondering if its the same kind as the one in your photo.

Not the same species, but definitely in the same order: Hemiptera, meaning "half wing" because half of their upper wing is leathery and half membranous. These are often called the "true bugs" so Bug is a good description. I don't know how to identify them to species or even family, but I'm taking an Entomology course this fall, so maybe I'll be able to tell you more later. :) Pam

Are you interested in going into the Entomology feild, or are you just takin the course for the knowledge? I have been interested in Entomology my entire life, well, since I was 3, don't remember much about what I thought before that :P. I'm 16 and have been interested in photography for about 3 years now, tty soon, ~Dave P.S. wonderful shot, grew up in AZ, I just moved out here to Oahu, Hawaii early in '05, so I'm familiar with the little guy in your picture
