"Alas poor Yorick. I knew him."

I was at Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve this afternoon. Wildflowers are about two weeks behind their normal bloom schedule, so there wasn't a LOT to see, unless you are a Naturalist. I followed a group around whose leader could tell a story about every emerging leaf or leaflet, twig or twiglet. I swore he was making up the species names.
----
Anyway, I eventually went off on my own, and next to the old pond (the one destroyed by storms--I thought it looked its old self again). And right on the edge of the water, these two ferns, just emerging, instantly reminded me of a famous scene from Hamlet!

Really cool find! Just talked with a retired naturalist at Mill Creek Park here, and he says the wildflowers are a month behind.

The story was fun to read and enjoyable. Loved it. Many plants and flowers are in that transition stage and as you show here, they can offer some beautiful looks. Gorgeous look. Have a wonderful Sunday.
