Goose Island Oak The Big Tree


	"Goose Island Oak" The Big Tree This tree is over a 1,000 year old and has survived fire and hundreds of Hurricanes. It became the Texas State Champion live oak since 1966. Its trunk is >35 feet, Crown 85 feet, and Hgt 44 feet. He has a lot of off spring around now but was a lonely Coastal live oak for a long time. The is tired now and wants to be left alone but loves to support squirrels, Jays, racoons, bobwhites, deer, javelina, and other members of his community. He thanks humans for the support, killing his pest, healing his fungus and respecting his antiquity. Rock on with the ages "Goose Island Oak". Congrats to finalist and winners. Emile Abbott
