My Dad used to fish off of big piers. From the San Francisco Bay to the Persian Gulf! This photo reminds me of him. :) Isn't the tide an amazing thing? The ocean in general. Such life, wonder and excitement it brings!! Great capture! Little Sister :D

Yikes! Really? That close! WOW! I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area in California and my brother had a 19 foot inboard outboard ski boat. Big one. baby blue and white. It was so pretty. And he was a great driver. Pulled us all on ski's etc... We always took it to lakes. One fine day he said "Hey! Why not let's go out in the bay?!" So we did. Our whole family. Five of us. Three kids and parents. It was such a beautiful calm day. My brother was showing off how he understood how to cut through the little waves. When all of a sudden the water currents changed and it got choppy. Then crazy wavy. HUGE giant waves going in all directions. No patterns, just stormy waters. My brother surely did not ever drive a boat in these conditions. We were scared witless as a group and for one of the only times in my life I wondered it we were going to die. We all felt it but no one said it. I think there were many "Oh my G*D's" being said. My brother handled it like a true hero. He stayed standing at the helm, focused on every way and cut his boat through them and back to shore that seems like forever to make it to. I really should write a story about it and present it to him as just one example of the hero that he is to me. :)

Yes, I never would have believed that...In my younger days, we used to go water skiing...Now I watch the grandchildren. It is a frightening feeling when those waves are circling you and choppy...He certainly must have been a good boat captain to maintain the boat under those conditions. It is very scary. You should do a little book for him...what a great gift that would be...I remember going in our boat to a town a few hours away for lunch...well, after lunch, the sky opened up and poured and got really windy and black as we were on our trek back...The silence in the boat was deafening...We two women were praying...and prayed even harder when we got back to the dock...It was one of those Gilligan's Island moments...I kept taking pics...and put them on a cd with the Gilligans Island music...funny now,but not then..
