Thanks Jo Ann. I was in Phoenix to visit our daughter as she ran in the 5K. This was later in the afternoon as it began to get hot.

Thanks Joy. When I saw him start to shrug off the jacket, I grabbed a quick snap which resulted in some movement but that appears to help the image. In post processing I de-saturated and lightened the background, and then added a gradient from warm tone to black and white from upper left to lower right.

Doesn't work for me, Dale. Don't think this is one of your better efforts. I do think you must have had to put a lot of thought and/or effort into selecting him to remove the camera motion.

I didn't select him to remove camera motion. I actually added motion blur to the background and introduced multiple gradient masks to it. Have been trying more creative endeavors lately and like this one a lot.

Thank you, Sherran.

Could you at least straighten the horizon? :o)

That is what I thought too Jeff! I was a little surprised to see that the pic looked a bit titled! Dale, I am impressed that you are always working to stay out of a box and try new things!

I am taking Dale's side this time. It appears to me that this young man might have a "gait" issue and the "off" orientation makes for a much more interesting image and storyline. OMG - am I turning into Peter or am I just watching too many "Doc Martin" episodes????

Thanks, Jeff. I had that one coming. :o) Hi Deb. Thanks for the comment. I am indeed trying to bend my outlook a bit 'cause I still don't seem to have an identifiable style. LOL! Other than trying to keep thing straight, that is. :o)

Thank you Debbra. I of course, saw the tilt but decided to keep it for artistic reasons. You'll notice that he is straight as evidenced by the hand rail next to him. I wanted to create a sense of heat and things being not quite right by keeping the distant scene at an angle, giving it motion blur, de-saturating and adding color filter and masks etc. If I did it again I would do the background a little differently, perhaps by adding a ripple effect to simulate heat waves.

I like the way you desaturated the background to bring the focus on the man! At this point I cannot quite remember what the whole hot day thing feels like!

Thanks Beth. I kid you guys about our warm weather, but I really do sympathize with what you are going through.

I like the monotone background and the fellow stands well apart from it. To me it represents the less fortunate living in a world that doesn't see them and sometimes their world is hopeless( the background . Short version- I like it a lot!

I love candid street photography and I really like the white hot heat captured in this one, Dale. It's that little bit of the unexpected that shows the creativity of the photographer. The shadow to his right seems a little strange to me, but I'm sure there's an explanation. It's not uncommon here to see people wearing a jacket and knit hat in 90 deg. heat. I don't get it. At least this guy is shedding his jacket a little.

Kristin, thank you nice comments. Your interpretation is almost exactly like the feeling I had for this image. That is one reason I resisted the temptation to make his figure more dramatic, and why I left if blurred.

Does it for me Dale! I see this dude flicking them finga's and rappin' and I almost hear it man! He ain't got no gait problem, he's swayin' to that rhythm. Got a little bit of me in there Debbie? You could do worse Girl. I have probably mentioned that my grandfather was born and raised in the village that the Doc Martin TV series is set in. Port Wenn in the show but Port Isaac in Cornwall in reality. We saw them shooting one of the episodes when we were back there a couple of years ago and had a conversation with "Bert".

Thanks Peter. You're right, he definitely had a thing going.
