Only Eight Lives Left

Danny, now seven months old, must have seen his ninth life flash by when he fell behind our washer/dryer tonight...
Getting him out required Scott to get the step stool, lie across the washer, and reach down. Luckily, Danny then reached up on his long hind legs, and Scott was able to bring him up by the scruff of his neck. We checked him over, and found nary a scratch.
Do you think he learned his lesson? Hardly. He watched as we put up several boxes and other barriers, then headed straight for the master bathroom and leaped up next to the vanity sink. The joys of "parenthood"...

Gorgeous capture and oh the drama that the kitties bring us. I have 20 cats and it is a challenge each day. Our latest rescue kitty is incontinent of both urine and stool from being beaten by someone on his back when young and he is just still a kitten about 4 months old. We are trying kitty diapers and have to keep him in one room with lot of plastic table cloths and pads to keep from ruining the bed & furniture. Glad Danny was OK.

LOL. That is one fun to read story Mary and it does remind us all as parents of these lovely creatures that they seem to decide they will do what ever they want and that the curious cat will forever get them in some predicaments that we parents have to come to the rescue for. Such a beautiful cat and I am sure a source of joy for you. Love his colors and the way that paw is reaching out. Beautiful picture and story dear friend. Have a wonderful day and take care.

Thanks, Tom. I wish I could say Danny has learned his lesson...but my husband spent a long time today constructing a cardboard cover for the "danger zone", and Danny has been trying to lift it ever since.

OMG!! I'm so glad Danny is okay!
What a chock this must have been for you both - and Danny too of course.
Or maybe he thought it was fun getting you two all excited and anxious on his behalf. HEHE!
All is well, thank goodness.
And what a beautiful portriat this is, Mary. Love the perspective. Reaching out... Very appropriate for the story.

Hi, Kiki! I'm still surprised that we didn't panic or start calling the local Fire Dept. (They're famous for rescuing kittens.) When I saw Danny "down below", he was clearly NOT enjoying the experience. He was more than willing to let Scott haul him out.
But that episode has not discouraged him in any way from "exploring" his world at every opportunity. "Birds gotta fly, fish gotta swim...and kittens gotta satisfy their curiosity"...

OM GOSH! Do I laugh or cry? I am not sure but I know one thing...We had 3 at once so I know your excitement. There was always something going on. One was a rascal what would climb trees and couldn't come down. He was such a bully. Another was 17 lbs of long black fur and had an huge heart. He had this oral fixation and I was forever removing things from his mouth and worried about him (who we also called Houdini as he could disappear like no ones business and open cupboards! He loved to play!) And the third was always on the run from the other two. That would be Fangy who now lives like a Prince having no one chasing him anymore. Finally he has the perfect life. He is asleep in the sunshine of the bay window now. :) So happy Danny is okay. He looks so cute here.

Thanks for commenting, Pom and Nadia. I always appreciate your feedback!
And, Pom, you certainly had your "grey hair" moments over the years because of your kitties. But, bottom line: they were, and always will be, worth it!

Excellent perspective shot, Chris, with lovely blue tones the day you took it.

Glad to hear Tony's making progress ~ keep it up, Tony! We're all rooting for your speedy recovery!
About Rango's and Danny's "adventures" : they certainly don't make it easy to love them sometimes. But then, they roll around on the floor and wait for some love scritches, and you remember why it is that their wishes are our commands! Hope you find that book!

Aww - life with cats is never boring! Bailey climbed into the dryer one day and not knowing, I closed the door and turned it on! Kathump, kathump - wth? I thought and immediately opened the door. Out he jumped, looking like he'd just awakened from a bad dream. We all loved Bailey's antics - never quite knew what he'd come up with next. Glad Danny's OK enough to keep making trouble. Love the perspective of his 'large' paw here!

Thanks for your cat-lovin' comments, Cindy. You (and Bailey) really lucked out on your hearing him in the dryer and getting him out ASAP. My husband's mother lost a kitten that way.
As for Danny's "antics": for two days straight, he's been hell on wheels, knocking things off dressers, climbing on top of our TV, and even making it out onto our porch before I grabbed him and put him back inside. A lot of bad language has been shouted --- and totally ignored. So I'm ignoring HIM tonight. How very grown-up is THAT? ;-D
