Not so Jolly Green Giants

  Not so Jolly Green Giants
Not so Jolly Green Giants

---
In 2010, the building in which I was employed experienced burst pipes on the 24th floor. The flooding cascaded down to every floor below. This was just one ROOM on the 15th floor, where I worked. There were hundreds of these drying machines deployed throughout the building.
----
Now, after the deep freeze we experienced last week, my neighborhood and surrounding neighborhoods were inundated with burst pipes. People are up to their knees in water STILL and the water emergency companies in the area have not yet gotten to everyone, partly because of equipment shortages.
----
This time, it's my home that has been affected by the rain deluges, snow accumulation, and freezing and thawing. The recalcitrant leaks we believed to have been repaired were again breached and we have major damages inside the house. We are waiting for the water remediation people to get to us with machines like these. Ceilings and walls will be torn down. Today MAY be the day.

Oh Michelle, I am so sorry. I saw the green blowers and knew immediately what had happened. Our experience was in 2011, flooding from the 2nd floor bath through to the basement.

I hope you get dried out soon!

Susan

Excellent capture of a not so happy time, Michelle! Sorry to hear it has extended to your home. We had one freeze-up this winter but lucky no burst pipes.

Uggggg…..so sorry, Michelle. The things we take for granted. I hope everything turns out OK. I know you're a very positive person, and there's always a silver lining in things. Hang in there and soon, hopefully you can smile about it!

Thanks everyone for your concern and good wishes. Actually, I am learning tons from this experience, and the one thing that consoles me is that when the time does come to sell this house, I will be able to do it with a clean conscience. And while we're still here, it'll be a much more safe and enjoyable place to live. Also, I'm sort of coming alive getting back to a form of project management again. We have the best team on the project and I'm confident it will be the final solution to the 17 years of heartbreaking bad "fixes" and repeated recurrences. It's going to be great.

So sorry to hear about your misfortunes Michelle but if anyone can come out of a bad situation with a positive outlook it would definitely be you. I wish you all the best and may all of your repairs come off without any further problems.

The picture looks like an invasion of large green snails. It is sad that the picture has to come with stories of flooded buildings and especially homes. Am so sorry to hear yours is one of them. I pray they will get in quickly and get it restored for you my friend.

Michele, I am sooo sorry...what a horrible situation to have to go through, but you do sound positive and I'm sending you hopes that all repairs go well! I've seen your posts of your beautiful house and it's a shame to have to endure this!

  WOW! That sounds terrible, Michelle.
I just saw your image of the room and thought it was just an ordinary renovation.
I'm sorry to hear how bad the weather has been and what it's done to so many homes.
I hope for you that it's over now.

Sorry to hear what you are going through Michelle but I have been there before during a flood of 1998 my house was hit with 9 foot wall of water. We had to rip out all the walls and rebuild. Our bedroom is still not completed after all this time. We just got tired and quit. Good luck with your repairs and wish for better days.
