Old Prison Cell
This image is of the shadow and concrete wall texture inside a WWII POW prison cell. Next to the iron barred window is the shadow of the chain link covered roof vent. Taken at a German POW camp 1942-1945, located in Northern California. There was a happy ending as many of the WWII German prisioners returned to this area of California after the war was over to make a new life as American farmers. For them life in this camp (as many state in their own words) was better than life before the war started. Camp Beale also held training facilities for the 81st and 96th Infantry Division, a 1,000-bed hospital, and a prisoner of war camp. Dredge materials from the area's abandoned gold mines were used to build streets at the Camp. The remnants of a World War II German POW camp at Beale AFB. The cell block was used for isolation detention. As a complete training environment, Camp Beale had tank maneuvers, mortar and rifle ranges, a bombardier-navi

Thank you very much, I appreciate you looking and commenting. I think even in the stark concrete cell it was a better life for them than when they began so they say in their own words. There was a happy ending as many of the WWII German prisoners returned to this area of California after the war was over to make a new life as American farmers.
