Commodore Barry

Commodore Barry

---
This statue is of John Barry, the first Commodore of the U.S. Navy. Commodore Barry was born in Ireland in 1745, and died in Philadelphia in 1803. The statue is placed, along with 4 others in a large exhibit at the Avenue of the Republic and States Street in Philadelphia's Fairmount Park. All the statues were funded by the Catholic Total Abstinence Union.
----
The bird is about to alight on the Commodore's head, where he stand and sing his little heart out (a mockingbird) beautifully and endlessly.

I noticed the bird! Great sense of motion and anticipation of that little event in the park!
